The Grand Del Mar | Luxury Resort Hotel Located In San Diego, California.

A stroll through the resort uncovers a collection of the finest materials unearthed from around the world to construct the distinctive setting, honoring the indelible architecture of Addison Mizner – the only design of its kind on the West Coast. Highlights include: more than 30 types of imported stone, from polished Italian marble columns to Jerusalem limestone; cubic stone carved by a family of four generations in a small town south of Venice, Italy; over 35 wood finishes used on 16 different wood species from across the globe; wrought-iron accents punctuated by 24-karat gold leafing; Roman pan tile roofing; Venetian plastered walls and vibrant Portuguese-style glazed tile.

Each of the 249 lavishly appointed guestrooms, including 31 expansive suites highlighted by a pair of 2,840-square-foot Presidential Suites, features a marble bathroom with deep European-style soaking tub, dual sinks, a separate shower, and 13-inch LCD television; plush feather-top beds with Italian linens and 100% goose down pillows; and commanding views of the golf course or the serene nature preserve.

Decorated in an elegant, yet inviting turn-of-the-century style with dark wood furnishings, crown moldings, stylish fixtures, and a jewel-toned color scheme, rooms also offer modern comforts: 40-inch LCD television, iPod docking station, complimentary wireless and wired high-speed Internet access, three dual-line phones (one cordless), in-room safe large enough to hold laptop computers, 24-hour in-room dining, an honor bar with wet bar area, and complimentary bottled water.

The resort features in excess of 20,000 square feet of meeting and event space to accommodate a full range of events – from intimate board meetings or incentive trips to product launches and national sales meetings – for groups of up to 600 guests. The space is designed for flexibility, including high ceilings and the latest technology.

Indoor highlights include the Elizabeth Ballroom – a 10,000-square-foot setting featuring six divisible sections, automobile access, a built-in stage, ceiling heights from 18 to 19 feet, and spacious wrap-around foyers, as well as warm woods, imported stone, and rich color accents of champagne and burgundy; the Manchester Salon and Terrace –  a 2,500-square-foot salon with an inviting ambiance enhanced by detailed woodwork and stenciled ceilings, as well as two stone fireplaces both indoors and out on the commanding, 1,910-square-foot terrace; the Elizabeth Capella – a truly unique event option set in the resort’s magnificent 3,430-square-foot private chapel; and three wine-inspired rooms, featuring encased wine bottles, wood-beamed ceilings, brick accents and a sophisticated ambiance, range from 575 to 750 square feet or can be combined to 1,925 square feet.

Taking advantage of Southern California’s ideal climate, outdoor settings include the nearly 8,200-square-foot Aria Lawn, a poolside “beach,” The Clubhouse Grill terrace, the Reflection Pool and the Tennis Pavilion. Rounding out the mix are the Clubhouse Boardroom and private dining in the resort’s working, 3,450-bottle Wine Cellar or at restaurants Addison and Amaya.

The resort’s centerpiece is the Tom Fazio-designed golf course at The Grand Golf Club. Fazio, renowned for his strong sense of environmental design as well as challenging-but-fair golf, created a 7,160-yard, par 72 championship course with multiple tees suited to many abilities. Diverse bunkering and rolling greens wind through the stunning natural playground close enough to the Pacific Ocean to capture cool ocean breezes and washed in the year-round Southern California glow.

Embracing the creative and rejuvenating spirit of the Renaissance, The Spa at The Grand Del Mar delivers a sublime experience of relaxed, renewed and restorative wellness. Gleaning resources from the adjacent Los Peñasquitos Canyon Preserve, a natural wonderland replete with an abundance of flora and fauna, our spa experts designed exclusive treatments enriched with elements of the earth: warm mineral muds, native herbs, soothing stones and calming botanicals, and utilizing an organic product line custom-made for The Grand Del Mar.

An award-winning, 33,000-bottle wine program and six dining venues offer a multitude of enticing options, among them Addison, the resort’s signature Five Diamond restaurant featuring acclaimed Chef William Bradley’s contemporary French cuisine; Amaya, offering breakfast, lunch and a Mediterranean-inspired dinner; The Clubhouse Grill; and the Lobby Lounge for daily cocktails and weekend afternoon tea.

Four sparkling pools, two tennis courts, complimentary fitness classes and an array of nature-based activities, such as hiking, biking and horseback riding, complete The Grand Del Mar experience.

The Grand Del Mar is located in northern San Diego, five miles from the Pacific Ocean and minutes from renowned beaches and Torrey Pines State Reserve.

The resort is situated amidst serene Los Peñasquitos Canyon Preserve – a 4,100-acre county landmark home to rich biodiversity including 500 plant species, more than 175 types of birds and protected wildlife; rare Early California artifacts and Native American history; a boulder-studded waterfall cascading through volcanic rock; and spectacular scenery unique to Southern California.

Numerous restaurants, boutiques and galleries await in the nearby coastal communities of La Jolla, Del Mar and Rancho Santa Fe, and the famous Del Mar Thoroughbred Club – host of the annual Del Mar Horse Races. Downtown San Diego, including San Diego International Airport and the lively Gaslamp District, is 25 minutes away, while world-class attractions, such as SeaWorld, San Diego Zoo and Wild Animal Park, and Legoland are all within a 25 to 30-minute drive.

In addition to San Diego’s airport, nearby travel options include Los Angeles International Airport (LAX, 106 miles, 109 minutes); Orange County Aiport (SNA, 71 miles, 73 minutes); Long Beach Airport (LGB, 91 miles, 100 minutes); and for private planes, Carlsbad Palomar Airport (CLD, 19 miles, 23 minutes).
