There are many ways to identify economic slowdowns. However, for Las Vegas, Nevada hotels, there's one simple way measure the economy: room rates.

So it doesn't take a genius to figure out that, at a time of year when conventioneers and tourists typically head to Las Vegas, Nevada hotels for near-perfect weather, the city's economic situation isn’t what it should be.

The proof? Rooms at some of the biggest Las Vegas, Nevada hotels are going for amazingly low rates and there is a blitz of promotions – from two-for-one meal and show offers to free cocktails and concierge services.

There are no hard figures to show Las Vegas is in a tourism slump. Though airline and car traffic is down, figures from the Las Vegas CVB show flattening growth in key indicators such room rates and visitor traffic to Las Vegas, Nevada hotels.
